Orangewood Foundation, in partnership with UC Irvine, the Orange County Superior Court, and Pathways of Hope, celebrated the grand opening of the Young Adult Court Recovery-Focused House on Friday, September 12 with a ribbon cutting! This new housing site offers young men ages 18–25 with non-violent felony charges a safe and supportive environment to break the cycle of repeat offenses and build a stable future.

The event highlighted the collaborative effort behind the Young Adult Court program alongside our community partners’ shared commitment to providing structured recovery-focused housing and comprehensive support. Attendees also learned how the Recovery-Focused House will integrate trauma-informed care, mentorship, and community reintegration strategies, emphasizing the meaningful impact it will have on participants rebuilding their lives.

About the Recovery-Focused House

Funded through a $1.2 million Proposition 47 grant from the California Board of State and Community Corrections, the Recovery-Focused House provides housing for up to six participants at a time over a 48-month period. The program addresses a critical need by creating a safe, structured environment where young men can focus on recovery, skill-building, and personal development while accessing the resources and guidance they need to thrive.

More than just a place to live, the house is a space where participants actively take charge of their own growth. Built on accountability, personal development, and opportunity, the program encourages young men to set goals, pursue education or employment, and develop the skills needed for meaningful, independent lives. Success stories like Abraham’s—who went from facing serious criminal charges and an uncertain future to becoming felony-free, playing college football, employed, and safely housed—illustrate the potential of young adults when given the right support and guidance. As the program’s first successful graduate, Abraham’s journey shows how every step of the program empowers participants to define their own paths and prepare for lasting stability and achievement.

The grand opening of the Recovery-Focused House reflects the power of community collaboration. By coming together, an amazing program was formed that not only addresses immediate housing needs but also fosters long-term opportunities and brighter futures for young men in Orange County.
