As summer winds down and our community’s youth prepare to head back to school, the Orangewood Foundation is proud to share the incredible results of our recent annual backpack drive. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity and kindness of our supporters, we successfully collected over 600 backpacks, each packed with essential school supplies for the youth and young adults we serve.
This represents more than just meeting a need, it’s a testament to what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared purpose.
A Fresh Start, One Backpack at a Time
For many of the young people in our programs, some of whom are current or former foster youth, access to basic school supplies can be a barrier to educational success. With the support of our donors and volunteers, we’ve helped eliminate that barrier for hundreds of students this year.
Each backpack handed out is more than just a collection of notebooks, pens, and folders. It’s the confidence a student needs to walk into a class prepared. It’s the knowledge that someone out there believes in their potential and wants to see them thrive.
Powered by Community Generosity
From individual donors to local businesses, service organizations, and volunteers, we saw an outpouring of support. Some donated supplies, others gave their time to sort and pack, each action playing a role in the drive’s success.
