Youth Transitioning from Foster Care

Statistics:

54% of youth from foster care will earn their high school diploma, compared to 87% of the general population.

Without a formal education or adult guidance, within a year of exiting foster care:
25% of youth will experience housing instability
50% will be unemployed

Youth from foster care are seven times more likely to develop a drug dependency, twice as likely to develop an alcohol dependency and they experience PTSD at double the rate as U.S. Iraq war veterans.
