Laron’s Story

Laron was only 6 years old when police officers picked him and his brother up from school and took them to social services. “I remember nights when we didn’t have lights in our house, days when we had no food. So I knew when they took us away that we weren’t going to go back home,” he says. Growing up in an unstable home and then in the foster care system had a huge impact on Laron. But as a teenager, with the help of coaches, mentors, and Orangewood Foundation Laron built a life for himself. He got into sports, graduated from college, came to work for Orangewood, and eventually built his own business. Today, his biggest motivation is being a good dad to his son, Cameron.
