ABOUT THE ORC KITCHEN

As we start to safely gather again, a common place for any gathering starts in the kitchen. Like your kitchen, the Orangewood Resource Center (ORC) kitchen is a place where memories and meaningful conversations begin.

Our Orangewood Resource Center (ORC) kitchen is a vital and central component of the safe, judgement-free atmosphere that we work to create for Orange County youth. While sharing a hot meal with no strings attached, youth can slowly learn to build trust in our staff and volunteers. This often leads to them accepting our help with more intensive stabilization services. This is why the kitchen is so important to us.

The ORC kitchen was last updated in 2003 and is in great need of a renovation. Originally designed for a simple workplace kitchen, it is currently supplying almost 7,000 nutritious meals each year for approximately 500 unduplicated youth!

Tom Ward, a longtime supporter of Orangewood Foundation who has donated kitchen and home appliances to Orangewood youth, is the inspiration of the Kitchen Renovation Fundraiser. When Tom saw the need to renovate the ORC Kitchen, he didn't hesitate to donate $25,000 to kick off the fundraiser for the renovation. Thank you, Tom, for your leadership in making a safe place for youth!

Help make the kitchen into a commercial grade kitchen where we can serve more meals to youth, like Tom.

We desperately need a refreshed kitchen that is larger, more functional, and meets the criteria of a commercial grade food preparation facility.
